  • Port of Los Angeles rose 4.36 percent compared to last year to $45.55 million.
  • Port of Chester, PA rose 11.56 percent compared to last year to $44.1 million.
  • Port of Oakland, CA rose 4.99 percent compared to last year to $16.74 million.
  • Port of Newark fell 10.25 percent compared to last year to $16.38 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign sources:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 Mexico decreased $11.14 million, 6.95 percent, (38.04 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 China decreased $14.31 million, 16.75 percent, (18.16 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 Ireland increased $7.62 million, 16.08 percent, (14.03 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 Canada increased $3.19 million, 9.4 percent, (9.49 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 India decreased $351,455, 2.39 percent, (3.66 percent market share).

All totaled, 83.4 percent of all these Dental floss imports to the United States were shipped from the top five sources through August of this year. That is equal to $326.68 million of the $391.72 million total.
