Costa Rica’s total trade with the United States was $1.64 billion in February, a change of 10.60 percent from the same month one year ago. The change in exports was 30.44 percent and the change in imports was -4.56 percent. Costa Rica ranked No. 35 among U.S. trade partners in February. It had ranked No. 37 for the same month last year.
The top three U.S. exports by value in February were Gasoline, other fuels, (2) Medical instruments, and (3) Low-value shipments. The top three U.S. imports from Costa Rica, also by value, were Medical instruments, (2) Artificial knees, hips, etc., and (3) Returned exports, without change. By tonnage, the top three U.S. exports were (1) Gasoline, other fuels, (2) Petroleum products, and (3) Corn. The top three U.S. imports, also by tonnage, were (1) Avocados, dates, figs, pineapples, etc., (2) Bananas and plantains, and (3) Melons and papayas.
