  • Newark Liberty International Airport, NJ fell 57.86 percent compared to last year to $145.92 million.
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport rose 51.68 percent compared to last year to $116.27 million.
  • San Francisco International Airport, CA rose 34.79 percent compared to last year to $95.21 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign sources:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 Ireland increased $36.88 billion, 622.07 percent, (96.53 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 China increased $702.98 million, 487.76 percent, (1.91 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 Italy increased $130.52 million, 527.69 percent, (0.35 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 Denmark decreased $18.52 million, 17.21 percent, (0.2 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 France increased $9.45 million, 12.03 percent, (0.2 percent market share).

All totaled, 99.19 percent of all these Insulin, hormones and steroids imports to the United States were shipped from the top five sources through August of this year. That is equal to $43.99 billion of the $44.35 billion total.
