  • Port Laredo rose 23.28 percent compared to last year to $993.75 million.
  • Port of Philadelphia rose 24.71 percent compared to last year to $325.61 million.
  • Port of Hueneme, CA rose 22.98 percent compared to last year to $167.2 million.
  • Nogales Border Crossing, AZ fell 21.22 percent compared to last year to $144.03 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign sources:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 Mexico increased $232.95 million, 8.64 percent, (68.99 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 Costa Rica decreased $1.58 million, 0.31 percent, (12.03 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 Peru increased $94.74 million, 40.1 percent, (7.8 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 Colombia increased $55.15 million, 78.6 percent, (2.95 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 Turkey increased $27.06 million, 52.1 percent, (1.86 percent market share).

All totaled, 93.63 percent of all these Avocados, dates, figs, pineapples, etc. imports to the United States were shipped from the top five sources through August of this year. That is equal to $3.97 billion of the $4.25 billion total.
