U.S. trade with Monaco fell 58.37 percent through August

Monaco’s trade with the United States decreased to $74.62 M through the first eight months of 2025, according to a WorldCity analysis of latest U.S. Census Bureau data. That’s 58.37 percent below its total trade during the same time period last year ago. U.S. exports to Monaco decreased 68.48 percent while U.S. imports from Monaco fell 3.92 percent. The U.S. surplus with Monaco was $20.71 M.

Through August, the top five among the nation’s airports, seaports and border crossings were No. 1 John F. Kennedy International Airport; No. 2 Port of Virginia; No. 3 Phoenix land-based cargo, AZ; No. 4 Seattle-Tacoma International Airport; and No. 5 Los Angeles International Airport. During the same period the previous year, the top five were No. 1 John F. Kennedy International Airport; No. 2 Port of Virginia; No. 3 Port of Wilmington, NC; No. 4 Los Angeles International Airport and No. 5 Miami International Airport. In the current time period, the top five accounted for 71.38 percent of Monaco’s U.S. trade.

Among those top five:

  • Trade with No.1 John F. Kennedy International Airport fell 74.93 percent to $36.05 million.
    Exports fell 76.65 percent to $32.12 million. Imports fell 36.99 percent to $3.93 million.
  • Trade with No.2 Port of Virginia fell 28.04 percent to $6.9 million.
    Exports totaled $81,678. Imports fell 28.89 percent to $6.82 million.
  • Trade with No.3 Phoenix land-based cargo, AZ totaled $3.65 million.
    There were no exports. Imports totaled $3.65 million.
  • Trade with No.4 Seattle-Tacoma International Airport rose 310.95 percent to $3.48 million.
    Exports rose 399.37 percent to $3.48 million. There were no imports.
  • Trade with No.5 Los Angeles International Airport fell 29.97 percent to $3.18 million.
    Exports fell 61.58 percent to $1.69 million. Imports rose 941.72 percent to $1.49 million.

Monaco ranked No. 167 among the United States’ top trade partners through the current period. In the same period one year ago, it ranked No. 140.

Meanwhile, total U.S. trade with the world increased to $3.75 T, up 6.87 percent compared to the same period last year. The nation’s exports climbed 3.86 percent to $1.43 T; imports climbed 8.81 percent to $2.32 T. The nation’s top five countries so far this year, by value, are Mexico; Canada; China; Switzerland and Germany. The overall trade deficit was $892.21 B, up compared to the same period of last year when the deficit was $757.53 B.

The top five U.S. exports to Monaco by value through August were the categories of Paintings, drawings and other artwork; Original sculptures and statues; Beef, fresh or chilled; Screws, nuts, bolts, washers; and Diamonds, not mounted, respectively. They accounted for 83.83 percent of total exports to Monaco.

The value of the top five categories of U.S. imports from Monaco –– Make-up and skin-care products; Returned exports, without change; Personal toiletries for shaving, etc.; Paintings, drawings and other artwork; and Soap, related soap products –– accounted for 71.55 percent of all inbound shipments.

Looking more closely at U.S. exports to Monaco:

  • Paintings, drawings and other artwork rose 43.01 percent compared to last year to $32.32 million.
  • Original sculptures and statues rose 57.69 percent compared to last year to $2.32 million.
  • Beef, fresh or chilled rose 210.29 percent compared to last year to $2.16 million.
  • Screws, nuts, bolts, washers totaled $2.05 million. The previous year, there were no export in this category.
  • Diamonds, not mounted fell 50.08 percent compared to last year to $1.1 million.

Looking more closely at U.S. imports from Monaco:

  • Make-up and skin-care products fell 30.58 percent compared to last year to $5.97 million.
  • Returned exports, without change rose 157.33 percent compared to last year to $5.95 million.
  • Personal toiletries for shaving, etc. fell 29.7 percent compared to last year to $2.84 million.
  • Paintings, drawings and other artwork rose 766.21 percent compared to last year to $2.63 million.
  • Soap, related soap products fell 40.99 percent compared to last year to $1.89 million.

In the latest annual figures available, Monaco recorded $210.39 M in trade with the United States. Total U.S. exports to Monaco were $ 162.8 M and imports from Monaco were $47.59 M. The U.S. surplus with Monaco was $115.21 M.
