Malawi’s total trade with the United States was $5.48 million in June, a change of 26.21 percent from the same month one year ago. The change in exports was 32.33 percent and the change in imports was 20.32 percent. Malawi ranked No. 176 among U.S. trade partners in June. It had ranked No. 181 for the same month last year.

The top three U.S. exports by value in June were Malt extract, less than 40% cocoa, (2) Medical instruments, and (3) Low-value shipments. The top three U.S. imports from Malawi, also by value, were Tea, (2) Almonds, walnuts, pistachios, etc., and (3) Raw tobacco. By tonnage, the top three U.S. exports were (1) Malt extract, less than 40% cocoa, (2) Rice, and (3) Misc. vegetable fats, oils. The top three U.S. imports, also by tonnage, were (1) Tea, (2) Raw tobacco, and (3) Cane, beet sugar, solid form.
