The leading sources were No. 1 San Francisco International Airport, CA, No. 2 Port of Virginia, No. 3 Port of Newark, No. 4 Port of Los Angeles and No. 5 Los Angeles International Airport.

In the last previous full year, the leading sources were No. 1 Japan, No. 2 China, No. 3 Spain, No. 4 Germany and No. 5 Italy. The leading sources were No. 1 San Francisco International Airport, CA, No. 2 Port of Houston, No. 3 Port of Virginia, No. 4 Port of Los Angeles and No. 5 Port of Newark.

  • Port of Newark rose 43.79 percent compared to last year to $3.71 million.
  • Port of Los Angeles rose 13.31 percent compared to last year to $2.74 million.
  • Los Angeles International Airport rose 232.5 percent compared to last year to $2.24 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign sources:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 Japan increased $4.41 million, 49.42 percent, (40.85 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 China decreased $665,057, 10.01 percent, (18.31 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 Germany increased $37,781, 1.49 percent, (7.9 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 Mexico increased $1.91 million, 601.54 percent, (6.84 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 United Kingdom increased $1.3 million, 258.5 percent, (5.52 percent market share).

All totaled, 79.42 percent of all these Tin articles imports to the United States were shipped from the top five sources through August of this year. That is equal to $25.94 million of the $32.66 million total.
