In the last previous full year, the leading sources were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 Germany, No. 3 Sweden, No. 4 United Kingdom and No. 5 Japan.   • Alexandria Bay land-based cargo, NY rose 6.2 percent compared to last year to $30.55 million.
  • Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI rose 22.72 percent compared to last year to $17.64 million.
  • Port of Los Angeles fell 2.29 percent compared to last year to $14.83 million.
  • Buffalo Peace Bridge, NY fell 1.74 percent compared to last year to $8.47 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign sources:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 Canada decreased $3.15 million, 5.03 percent, (39.13 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 Germany increased $1.46 million, 6.67 percent, (15.37 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 Sweden decreased $1.91 million, 9.13 percent, (12.56 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 Japan increased $455,993, 4.87 percent, (6.47 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 United Kingdom decreased $127,874, 1.33 percent, (6.24 percent market share).

All totaled, 79.77 percent of all these Pig iron granules imports to the United States were shipped from the top five sources through August of this year. That is equal to $121.04 million of the $151.75 million total.
