The leading sources were No. 1 Port of Savannah, GA, No. 2 Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI, No. 3 Port of Newark, No. 4 Blaine / Surrey Border Crossing, WA and No. 5 Port of Houston.

In the last previous full year, the leading sources were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 The Netherlands, No. 3 Germany, No. 4 Mexico and No. 5 Turkey. The leading sources were No. 1 Port of Virginia, No. 2 Port of Philadelphia, No. 3 Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI, No. 4 Blaine / Surrey Border Crossing, WA and No. 5 Buffalo Peace Bridge, NY.

  • Blaine / Surrey Border Crossing, WA fell 33.35 percent compared to last year to $747,328.
  • Port of Houston rose 44.04 percent compared to last year to $703,317.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign sources:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 Canada decreased $1.32 million, 28.06 percent, (28.72 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 Germany decreased $143,199, 9.48 percent, (11.64 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 The Netherlands decreased $2.16 million, 63.92 percent, (10.38 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 China increased $13,054, 1.44 percent, (7.83 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 Mexico decreased $460,975, 34.01 percent, (7.61 percent market share).

All totaled, 66.18 percent of all these Lead articles imports to the United States were shipped from the top five sources through August of this year. That is equal to $7.77 million of the $11.75 million total.
