In the last previous full year, the leading sources were No. 1 The Netherlands, No. 2 Canada, No. 3 Italy, No. 4 United Kingdom and No. 5 Sweden.   • Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI rose 107.48 percent compared to last year to $4.49 million.
  • Jackman, ME Border Crossing rose 0.85 percent compared to last year to $2.99 million.
  • Port of Newark rose 95.15 percent compared to last year to $2.42 million.
  • Champlain Border Crossing, NY fell 3.58 percent compared to last year to $1.5 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign sources:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 The Netherlands increased $2.95 million, 10.72 percent, (51.34 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 Canada increased $1.14 million, 8.08 percent, (25.61 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 Italy increased $2.55 million, 48.05 percent, (13.23 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 Germany increased $1.44 million, 442.44 percent, (2.98 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 United Kingdom decreased $212,280, 14.04 percent, (2.19 percent market share).

All totaled, 95.36 percent of all these Composite paper, paperboard imports to the United States were shipped from the top five sources through August of this year. That is equal to $56.56 million of the $59.31 million total.
