Through August of this year the leading markets were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 India, No. 4 Spain and No. 5 Indonesia. The leading markets were No. 1 Port of New York, No. 2 Port Laredo, No. 3 Port of Virginia, No. 4 Champlain Border Crossing, NY and No. 5 Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI.

In the last previous full year, the leading markets were No. 1 Vietnam, No. 2 Canada, No. 3 Mexico, No. 4 India and No. 5 Malaysia. The leading markets were No. 1 Port of New York, No. 2 Champlain Border Crossing, NY, No. 3 Port of Virginia, No. 4 Port Laredo and No. 5 Port of Savannah, GA.

  • Port Laredo rose 33.86 percent compared to last year to $13.4 million.
  • Port of Virginia fell 4.17 percent compared to last year to $11.78 million.
  • Champlain Border Crossing, NY fell 21.25 percent compared to last year to $11.65 million.
  • Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI rose 41.2 percent compared to last year to $10.86 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. export to No. 1 Canada decreased $41,295, 0.08 percent, (34.6 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 2 Mexico decreased $4.19 million, 12.69 percent, (20.51 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 3 India decreased $849,835, 8.29 percent, (6.69 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 4 Spain increased $422,861, 6.26 percent, (5.11 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 5 Indonesia increased $917,144, 17.18 percent, (4.45 percent market share).

All totaled, 71.36 percent of all these Plastic waste, scrap exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through August of this year. That is equal to $100.27 million of the $140.51 million total.
