In the last previous full year, the leading markets were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 Ireland, No. 3 United Kingdom, No. 4 Brazil and No. 5 Taiwan. The leading markets were No. 1 Port of Tampa, FL, No. 2 Port of Houston, No. 3 Low-Value border crossing cargo, No. 4 Port of Los Angeles and No. 5 Los Angeles International Airport.

  • Otay Mesa Freeway Border Crossing, CA rose 238.43 percent compared to last year to $1.44 million.
  • Port Laredo rose 3054 percent compared to last year to $1.38 million.
  • Low-Value border crossing cargo rose 17.71 percent compared to last year to $1.19 million.
  • Los Angeles International Airport rose 8.75 percent compared to last year to $1.02 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. export to No. 1 Canada decreased $274,284, 7.94 percent, (21.07 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 2 Mexico increased $2.44 million, 375.96 percent, (20.44 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 3 Brazil increased $45,754, 3.15 percent, (9.92 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 4 Australia increased $54,409, 8.31 percent, (4.69 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 5 Chile increased $237,275, 50.51 percent, (4.68 percent market share).

All totaled, 60.8 percent of all these Locust beans, seaweed, sugar beets and sugar cane exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through August of this year. That is equal to $9.18 million of the $15.1 million total.
