The category ranked 563 through August among the roughly 1,265 import commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 583 for the last full year with a total value of $218.97 million, a $38.32 million, 21.22 percent increase from the 2023 total.

Through August of this year the leading markets were No. 1 France, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 South Korea, No. 4 Canada and No. 5 China. The leading markets were No. 1 Chicago O'Hare International Airport, No. 2 Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, No. 3 Port of New York, No. 4 Port Laredo and No. 5 Port of Los Angeles.

In the last previous full year, the leading markets were No. 1 France, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 Germany, No. 4 Canada and No. 5 Japan. The leading markets were No. 1 Chicago O'Hare International Airport, No. 2 Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, No. 3 Port of New York, No. 4 Port Laredo and No. 5 Port of Los Angeles.

  • Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport rose 18.18 percent compared to last year to $22.09 million.
  • Port of New York rose 0.4 percent compared to last year to $21.84 million.
  • Port Laredo rose 15.24 percent compared to last year to $14.1 million.
  • Port of Los Angeles rose 46.66 percent compared to last year to $13.76 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

  • U.S. export to No. 1 France increased $5.16 million, 17.87 percent, (22.12 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 2 Mexico increased $1.02 million, 5.84 percent, (11.96 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 3 South Korea increased $2.37 million, 23.78 percent, (8 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 4 Canada decreased $414,779, 3.88 percent, (6.67 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 5 China decreased $629,938, 7.25 percent, (5.24 percent market share).

All totaled, 53.99 percent of all these Friction material, articles from minerals exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through August of this year. That is equal to $83.13 million of the $153.97 million total.
