U.S. exports of Anti-knock additives decreased 6.55 percent through August to $2.07 billion

The category ranked 117 through August among the roughly 1,265 import commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 114 for the last full year with a total value of $3.09 billion, a $627.08 million, 16.87 percent decreased from the 2023 total.

Through August of this year the leading markets were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 France, No. 3 Mexico, No. 4 Singapore and No. 5 China. The leading markets were No. 1 Port of Houston, No. 2 Port of New York, No. 3 Port of New Orleans, No. 4 Port of Virginia and No. 5 Port Laredo.

In the last previous full year, the leading markets were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 Singapore, No. 4 France and No. 5 China. The leading markets were No. 1 Port of Houston, No. 2 Port of New York, No. 3 Port of New Orleans, No. 4 Port Laredo and No. 5 Port of Virginia.

  • Port of New York fell 22.31 percent compared to last year to $232.82 million.
  • Port of New Orleans fell 11.19 percent compared to last year to $183.01 million.
  • Port of Virginia fell 2.1 percent compared to last year to $139.89 million.
  • Port Laredo fell 26.54 percent compared to last year to $126.94 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. export to No. 1 Canada decreased $505,732, 0.17 percent, (13.99 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 2 France increased $18.79 million, 8.31 percent, (11.86 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 3 Mexico decreased $63.74 million, 22.28 percent, (10.77 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 4 Singapore decreased $72.85 million, 27.37 percent, (9.36 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 5 China decreased $32.12 million, 17.12 percent, (7.53 percent market share).

All totaled, 53.51 percent of all these Anti-knock additives exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through August of this year. That is equal to $1.11 billion of the $2.07 billion total.
