The category ranked 1086 through August among the roughly 1,265 import commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 1078 for the last full year with a total value of $8.96 million, a $1.87 million, 17.26 percent decreased from the 2023 total.

Through August of this year the leading markets were No. 1 Mexico, No. 2 Canada, No. 3 India, No. 4 Brazil and No. 5 Italy. The leading markets were No. 1 Port Laredo, No. 2 Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI, No. 3 Port of Savannah, GA, No. 4 Port of Charleston and No. 5 Nogales Border Crossing, AZ.

In the last previous full year, the leading markets were No. 1 Mexico, No. 2 Canada, No. 3 Brazil, No. 4 The Netherlands and No. 5 Turkey. The leading markets were No. 1 Port Laredo, No. 2 Port of Charleston, No. 3 Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI, No. 4 Port of Savannah, GA and No. 5 Port of Virginia.

  • Port of Charleston fell 47.12 percent compared to last year to $615,086.
  • Nogales Border Crossing, AZ fell 16.6 percent compared to last year to $126,778.

  • U.S. export to No. 1 Mexico decreased $881,535, 30.48 percent, (41.33 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 2 Canada decreased $56,920, 4.46 percent, (25.08 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 3 India increased $514,914, 0 percent, (10.58 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 4 Brazil decreased $721,035, 63.85 percent, (8.39 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 5 Italy increased $99,174, 76.05 percent, (4.72 percent market share).

All totaled, 90.1 percent of all these Yarn, cotton waste exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through August of this year. That is equal to $4.38 million of the $4.86 million total.
