Through August of this year the leading markets were No. 1 Colombia, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Philippines and No. 5 Guatemala. The leading markets were No. 1 Port of New Orleans, No. 2 Port of Greater Baton Rouge, LA, No. 3 Port of Southern Louisiana, No. 4 Port of Longview, WA and No. 5 Eagle Pass.

In the last previous full year, the leading markets were No. 1 Mexico, No. 2 Canada, No. 3 Colombia, No. 4 Venezuela and No. 5 Dominican Republic. The leading markets were No. 1 Port of New Orleans, No. 2 Port of Southern Louisiana, No. 3 Port of Greater Baton Rouge, LA, No. 4 El Paso Bridge of the Americas, TX and No. 5 Port of Virginia.

  • Port of Greater Baton Rouge, LA rose 52.41 percent compared to last year to $343.49 million.
  • Port of Southern Louisiana fell 20.29 percent compared to last year to $265.28 million.
  • Port of Longview, WA rose 193.79 percent compared to last year to $200.59 million.
  • Eagle Pass rose 88.59 percent compared to last year to $187 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. export to No. 1 Colombia increased $191.36 million, 57.35 percent, (16.35 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 2 Mexico decreased $58.14 million, 10.17 percent, (15.99 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 3 Canada decreased $123.47 million, 31.8 percent, (8.24 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 4 Philippines increased $109.22 million, 83.26 percent, (7.48 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 5 Guatemala increased $23.73 million, 16.37 percent, (5.25 percent market share).

All totaled, 53.32 percent of all these Soybean oilcake exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through August of this year. That is equal to $1.71 billion of the $3.21 billion total.
