  • Detroit Ambassador Bridge, MI fell 51.61 percent compared to last year to $189.41 million.
  • Port Laredo fell 0.81 percent compared to last year to $170.95 million.
  • Blaine / Surrey Border Crossing, WA fell 6.94 percent compared to last year to $75.14 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. export to No. 1 Canada decreased $57.99 million, 5.29 percent, (59.52 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 2 Mexico decreased $28.27 million, 10.99 percent, (13.11 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 3 Japan increased $110,939, 0.35 percent, (1.8 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 4 United Kingdom increased $257,871, 0.84 percent, (1.77 percent market share).
  • U.S. export to No. 5 Australia decreased $2.7 million, 8.03 percent, (1.77 percent market share).

All totaled, 77.97 percent of all these Bread, pastry, cakes exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through August of this year. That is equal to $1.36 billion of the $1.75 billion total.
