El Salvador’s total trade with the United States was $553.41 million in January, a change of 1.13 percent from the same month one year ago. The change in exports was 3.16 percent and the change in imports was -3.33 percent. El Salvador ranked No. 58 among U.S. trade partners in January. It had ranked No. 62 for the same month last year.

The top three U.S. exports by value in January were Gasoline, other fuels, (2) Corn, and (3) Cell phones, related equipment. The top three U.S. imports from El Salvador, also by value, were T-shirts, tank tops, knit or crocheted, (2) Sweaters, pullovers, vests, knit or crocheted, and (3) Returned exports, without change. By tonnage, the top three U.S. exports were (1) Gasoline, other fuels, (2) Corn, and (3) Wheat. The top three U.S. imports, also by tonnage, were (1) Cane, beet sugar, solid form, (2) Molasses from sugar, and (3) Articles of asbestos-cement, cell fiber cement.
